We'll See You, September

Likely to set records for heat & drought
September is done, heading out
With a 6.8 quake offshore Chile
But, no warning for a tsunami
Here it's a cool & cloudy day
Will any rain slide down our way?
Before the front gets pushed away
And record heat extends summer's stay
Leaves are turning but not orange & red
With drought, yellow & brown instead
Downstream creek pools mostly dry
More tiny critters are gonna die
Before we get any help from rain
As the drought spreads its pain
Over 90 quakes so far today
Chilean aftershocks continue that way
But, Puerto Rico still rules the list
Subduction shifts giving rocks a twist
Rest of Ring usual day of quakes
While outside another leaf takes
Its final tumble to the Earth
Far from the twig that gave it birth
They will certainly continue to fall
Kinda fitting for the season, y'all
But, the temps ain't falling soon
As 90+ heat will tomorrow balloon
Forecasted coolness by week's end
Will then Fall truly begin?
It's always wait and see
On Earth, let the chaos be
If you got cool, get out, enjoy
Me, got to go find my big brown boy
Time for the morning wander
Likely too, I'll continue to ponder
Today
On
Earth
