Arctic Hurricane & Southern Heat

Dorian in Canada, still hurricane winds
90+ heat in the deep south sends
People indoors, in the cool, time to think
How close are we to going over the brink
Many scientists, and I, think we're too late
Greenhouse gasses percentages too great
More heat's being trapped, temps keep rising
And, we're still burning, oil, gas, even coal
Human population growth still out of control
As Dorian's damage & death numbers grow
Our supposed "leader" continues to show
How clueless, petty & thin-skinned he is
Still billing taxpayers for slimy hotel biz
Chastising weathermen for letting us know
Where Dorian was really going to go
Cuz he was out cheating at golf
Instead of doing his job, another day off
Secret plans for Camp David Taliban talks
As Americans they killed come home in a box
Greedy lying punk bitch, so not clever
His slime will stain the world for ever
But, the Earth don't care
What we pump in the air
What we dump in the sea
Or how greedy we humans be
Earth don't care if it's hot or cold
Or if plates crash & mountains fold
If quakes shake or volcanoes erupt
Or even if meteorites disrupt
At 4.55 billion years old
To Earth, we don't matter, truth be told
We don't seem to consider how lucky we are
Rock with water, nice distance from a star
We got life and figured so much out
Could live within Earth's basic rules
Work together with our amazing tools
But, so many chose superstition over science
Make mystic choices with reality defiance
Still want their phones, that's science, folks
Tweeting beliefs, most ironic of jokes
Still, while Dorian survivors try to get by
We all got a lovely treat in the sky
Waxing gibbous moon sandwiched between
Saturn & Jupiter, what a delightful scene
Tonight moon moves to left of Saturn
Get out, check it out as today we turn
Toward & then away from the sun
Another day, another chance for fun
But, if you get a chance to help out
Dorian survivors, long road, no doubt
Be nice, say hi, share a smile
Get out on your planet for awhile
Enjoy today's ride
Today On Earth
