NE High pressure cooling us with wedge
While just to south, monster heat sledge
Is smashing records with late summer bake
Yet leafy paths show signs of needing rake
The Va. Creeper starting to show red
Others turning to dead yellow instead
Summer heat back to VA on the morrow
Yesterday's storms just missed, ahh, sorrow
So, drought rolls on, creek pools shrink
And, I've had more rain than most, I think
September, drought & heat, more records fall
Heat wants out but hitting CO2 wall
Still we don't get it
Little late for regret
Pacific Rim is all shook up today
Entire plate edge in a shaky way
From 6.0 north of New Zealand
Around to Chile, subducting ocean land
Lava oozing from East Pacific rise
Forming ridge, giving plate a pries
Oklahoma & Missouri shaking, too
Billion year old rift, shining through!
So cool geologists "saw" plate tectonics
With drilling, rock dating & seafloor sonics
Science: testing, retesting, it's how we know
So much about our wild planet's show
Too bad 60+ years of climate prediction
Ignored with our oil & greed affliction
Will we get to quake & volcano forecasting
Or just cling to survival; everlasting
We can change & do better
If not, no one will need a sweater...

But, first massive tidal range we'll see
Check crescent in the evening next week
As up on Jupiter it will sneak
It's all still spinning, flying around
