Northern hemisphere air is a'spinning
Release the heat! the Earth be grinning
A cyclone is a low pressure storm
Right now we've got a serious swarm
From the Gulf across the Atlantic
Baja to China, Pacific is frantic
Rising & twisting, blowing with rain
The evidence is so very plain
Earth wants all temps the same
But, poles and equator both complain
So heat rushes up, cold heads on down
On rotating planet air spins around
For us, all eyes are on Dorian
Sure lashed the Bahamas again
And, again & again for days
Following Harvey & Florence's ways
No upper winds to make it move
Found a nice Gulf Stream groove
When water recedes will see what's left
Likely a massive beach sand theft
Now slow movement up the East coast
With storm surge, more sand is toast
Storms low pressure is so strong
Ocean surface rises where it don't belong
Then the wind slings that ashore
Then there ain't no sand no more
Or houses or piers
Just homeowner tears
Hope if ordered, they evacuate
Or Atlantic likely to confiscate
More than just your house

5.9 quake on mid-Atlantic ridge
That's moving more than just a smidge
Does storm pressure relief play a roll?
More likely hot magma taking a stroll
Slowly, still, the Atlantic grows
Subducted down the Pacific goes
Slowly, away
Little more every day
Every day quakes round the rim
Make biggest ocean, little more slim
Plate tectonics, kinda figured it out
But, Earth still got secrets, no doubt
When's next quake, where will it blow
Earth don't..so, how could we know
Just a planet reacting to stuff
Some days casual, some days rough
We got a nice surprise of a storm
Last night, now back to humid & warm
1/2" of rain ain't nothing but good
Greened up the moss here in the wood
Will tonight be clear, to spy crescent moon
Another 1/4 rotation, we'll be there soon
Today is THE day, one of the best
School is back in, beaches get a rest
Retired teachers worldwide rejoice
So very glad I made the choice
To teach...and to retire
And, that I'm not looking for hire
