While the eastern US basks in the warmth of mid-spring, winter-like temps chill the western half of the country; the stark line, a cold front heading out way. Another day or so of the warmth before clouds thicken, not much rain forecast, and we get a cool weekend and a cold start to next week. With the Spring Equinox just 9 days out, the sun is too direct for the cold to last for long. The last few days have been a much needed delight.
In addition to Kilauea's stirring lava lake, Hawai'i's smaller island, Oahu has just receive almost a foot and a half of rain, major flood issues in paradise. Kentucky is still drying out, Virginia now so dry that NO BURN orders are in place with major fire dangers: warm, dry air & windy...yet, some cig puffing, TDS* mo-ron is throwing a still burning butt out their pickup window right now, guaranteed!! At least, they ain't listening to Rush...minor victories.
More & more aftershocks in the 4 & 5 magnitudes on the Aussie/Pacific plate boundary north of New Zealand. Philippines, PNG and S. Sandwich Isles all with 5+ quakes today but likely few issues with those.
Bigger concerns on the Philippines, Luzon in particular, increased seismicity from both Pinatubo and Taal volcanoes; one island, two volcanoes..of course, it is a volcano made island.. Residents be wary!!
Etna, Pacaya and Sangay are all still blasting away, lava fountains, ash and hot rock bombs threatening nearby towns. All 5 volcanoes on the list this week in Indonesia are getting pretty wild; Kamchatka blasters blast on and Veniaminof, nearby in the Aleutians is stirring back to life. The Sulfur Mine Mountain on St. Vincent continues to slowly bulge up a magma blister. Southern Japan has 3 islands that grow on, ash and lava added daily. Earth, getting busy, letting out the heat!!
Another 1,477 Americans succumb to the TrumpVirus yesterday, not even news anymore yet another 1,477 families into mourning. We are closing in on 30 million people infected and 530,000 Americans dead..And it's all on you donny, all your fault!!
Joe's goal of 100 million vaccines in his first 100 days will be easily met, only at 50 days and already 70+ million shots into arms, I intend to be one more tomorrow. 2nd goal: financial help to long suffering Americans, passed; without one idiot republican even though they were more than happy to give 2 trillion to the richest Americans, the biggest corporations at a time when Obama and Biden had the economy running strong after the last republican give away and financial mess.
