A Rather Raw Day..

A spritzing of sleet and then a touch of rain, maybe 0.05", last night is gone, hanging down in the Carolinas, but the clouds and cold remain and will into tomorrow. The monster ravaging the central US arrives here Thursday, somewhat weakened by its hammering of the midlands but a rain maker and still potential for wildness, worse likely to the south.

While the central US, that starts at Denver, digs out from the blizzard and farther south they clean up tornado damage China is shrouded in dust. The loess plateau in western China on it's annual spring fling. Loess is fine, glacially ground rock(for Earth we are still in an ice age, the last advance and rock grinding not that long ago..for Earth), think talcum powder, yellow in color and as the glaciers last retreated it blew south into China (and other places...the plains..) and covered/filled in the landscape. Every spring, as the dry winds roll down from the north, battling the southern breezes, they pick up the loess, freed by poor agricultural practices in a grossly over crowded country and fly all about. Beijing, residents often trapped indoors by pollution from poor industrial practices adds the fine yellow dust to the lungs of its waaaaay too many people. China continues to devastate its own country and spread the evil and devastation around the world..an evil not likely to subside any time soon...seeeeeeya at the next famine or viral pandemic!!

The planet is giving earthlings a minor quake break today, 5.3 the biggest and the usual 'round the Ring spots with an occasional outlier.

Upper atmosphere streaks and colors continue in the far north, the moon and Mars and stars are out there but will remain out of my sight until...who knows, tomorrow, the weekend..

Why the bird seed glomming is slow today, I don't know. Normally they have eaten down both feeders by now but both are still half full; nest building? a hawk in the vicinity? Don't know..and my big dog seems to be in a recovery day after several days of romp, eyeing me but still prone.

TrumpVirus deaths and cases continue to slide; Joe and his competent team have administered over 100,000 shots already, far ahead of the 100 day deadline. $1,400 checks are going out, I'd be willing to bet that no TDS* are sending their's back, denying it's existence. Capital crashers continue to be rounded up and jailed; sweet!! And, the drama level in the USA is waaaaaay down, not much to whine about but the fake news crew on the fox still do...Dr Seuss and Mr. Potato head their latest, racist/sexist rants. No Rush, no donny all a'twitter, no one to get them all bent and angry, still they are, still unwilling to look in the mirror and admit that their problems are their problems, all self made but still their only game, deny and blame, Today On Earth.
