The aftershocks along the north/south trending Pacific/Aussie plate boundary shake on; dozens and dozens in the mag. 4-6 range. A 6.3 quake just off New Zealand's north island has added shifting and shimming to the scene. Plate subduction the main culprit, the Pacific plate being forced under other plate around most of it's circumference (the push is coming from the new crust forming along the East Pacific rise, the Mid-Ocean ridge that the Galapagos are visible evidence of), but that north/south portion has some side slipping going on, a little strike-slip fault action. Fortunately, for the rest of the planet, most are fish quakes without tsunami action and look impressive on a map but do little otherwise.
Quake evidence first hand comes from Croatia where a big shake up back in December has lead to the speed up in collapse in a karst (limestone) region with the tops of lots of caves collapsing; result: dozen of new sinkholes. Stay away! Warnings to the wise, the unwise, likely young and dumb will no doubt explore..and a few will succumb!
Gravity, binder of the universe, also joins in with quakes, often after heavy rain to loosen and release land/rock slides (human earth movement/building often adding to the likelihood of said collapse). Gravity will do so without a quake but a big shake is an easy trigger. Earth change seems slow, unnoticed, until it isn't!
Atmospheric change has been sudden around here; the rains shut down and the sun reins, cool and warm air battle it out; cool in charge today!! And tomorrow but southern air battles back by Monday and will warm our part of the world for most of next week. Some high clouds today with wet weather to our north and south but the sun still warms the tirehouse nicely:)
Moon was at Last (3/4) Quarter yesterday, waning gibbous officially today and won't rise until after midnight but will be in the morning sky heading west. Sun remains rather windy, solar windy, stirring auroras still in the northlands.
TrumpVirus numbers seem to be slipping down a bit..then Ohio (catching up on death certificates??) shows that 752 folks died yesterday...really? That makes total 2,483 for March 5th, CA & TX still leading the way, even as dumbass politicians say "open it up"; tough to spend much money if you're dead!! Texican "leader" Greg Abbott still leads the moron parade, paddling, seated of course, through boiled water in his states personal oily rivah, Da Nile!! To the wise people of Taxus, and there are many, I'm sorry so many in your state think teddy cruise and greggy abbott have your (it's only their own) best interest in mind and so many, I'm sure still thinking bleach might help defeat the virus, care not a bit about your health or safety by keeping their (mostly) fat white faces in full view. Earth and virus don't care..too bad your neighbors don't either.
Need more evidence republican idiots don't care, look no further than the senate; knee pads still in place hoping for donny the douche's return (nice to see more and more capital crashing traitors going to jail) and doing what they do best, NOTHING!! No ideas, no plans, just vote no and whine and complain, on and on and on...now worried about deficits after giving trillions in tax breaks to big corps and the richest Americans.
