With 2.4" of rain to wrap up November, the third month in 2020 with over 8" here at the tirehouse (and Rocktober had 7 1/4"), we barrel onward up the top ten list of wettest years on record. Hurricane season is officially over; and actually seems to be but with action already underway in southern hemisphere. And, December is feeling, like December; cold and blustery even with the sun finally popping out above the clouds (and finally some solar warming of the tirehouse:). Things will get even chillier tonight and we are looking at a chilly, December-like week ahead. Snow still swirls to the west of the mountains, and fell deep into the south-lands yesterday, but that nastiness is staying well north of here.
Two big shakes today: 6.4 just offshore of very southeastern Russia and 6.3 in northern Argentina. My guess, with no waves mentioned, little damage was done from either quake. The rest of the planet remains relatively quiet, shake-wise.
The penumbral eclipse of early Monday's Full moon was noticeable to any one with good eyes and clear skies(the torrential rain here removed viewing as an option here), still hardly big news worthy. In two weeks, the moon's shadow will race across the south Pacific, Chile' and Argentina, onto the south Atlantic before sliding out of the sun's way; a total solar eclipse! With travel restrictions from the TrumpVirus still rampaging, live viewership will be way down. Photos will appear, though!!
The big blast from the sun came from a small sunspot! It finally spin into view and was much smaller than thought. The new solar cycle is ramping up but won't peak until 2025. Saturn and Jupiter inch closer and closer at the same time sinking lower and lower in the west post-sunset. Still a once in a lifetime near conjunction coming in 3 weeks!!
Whoa!! A 6.3 quake just (20 minutes ago)rocked the western Aleutians of Alaska, USGS tsunami site reports no waves coming. Earth, seldom takes a break!!
The TrumpVirus rages on across the US, while the evil virus that is our lame duck, so very lame, prez continues his inept attempt at a coup (bad winner, worse loser, never a plan for anything in 4 years, why would he suddenly show promise of a plan now..and if we add TrumpVirus caused bankruptcies across the country to his personal list he will be #1 at something:). Over 4 million TrumpVirus cases in November, deaths have to be in 10's of thousands for the month and with idiots traipsing about the country for Thanksgiving it is likely December will be waaaay worse, waaaaaaaay worse!! Nice job killing off family members America!! Maybe reward yourself with a supersize happy meal!! Should be no problem getting death count to over 300,000 by the new year!!
