There were signs..but, yesterday part of the structure of the (formerly) world's largest radio telescope in Arecibo, Puerto Rico collapsed into the giant disc and pulled the whole thing down to the jungle below. An icon of scientific discovery gone, gravity and time, as usual, the ultimate taskmasters in the universe.
Another reminder of days gone by, a rocket booster from Surveyor 2, lost 54 years ago was spotted drifting near Earth after mostly orbiting the sun in an earth-like path for the last 5 decades. It will do another fly-by of Earth in February before drifting off again.
Nevada was rocked again with a 5.1 quake earlier today with dozens of aftershocks still ongoing. It's western Nevada and in the lower 48, few places are closer to nowhere than that hotspot, so, damage issues are likely minimal. Take that quake and aftershocks away and the quake list looks more normal. No reports of Alaskan issues from that 6.1 quake about this time yesterday.
Indonesia made the weather.com site with 6 volcanoes blasting away; we'll see what the USGS site has to say about those eruptions when released later today.
Cold, December-like weather continues here, 30 this morning and we may hit 50 today but after a very mild Fall, it's a bit of a shock, glad I have a face warming beard in the works:). More rain coming Friday.
And, back to the pathetic reality of America, 2,607 TrumpVirus deaths were reported YESTERDAY!! That is only 100 less deaths than the previous peak back in May, nice job TDS* morons. At this rate, we'll reach 14,000,000 cases today and 275,000 deaths before the week (or day) is out. Still our federal government does absolutely NOTHING to help, our whiny poser prez still working on ways to overturn an election that he lost with his team of incompetents - incompetents his ongoing theme!! Pathetic! It's all on you and the fox, donny, all on you and your reality denying, fat, walmart shopping, jesus pretend worshipping, racist MORONS!
