A Warm Sliver!

In 60+ warmth on the eve of the eve
Lounging by the pool I can conceive
But, with a looming, ominous cloud
I also imagine thunder clapping aloud
Monster storm centered upper mid-west
It's tail a cold front about to best
The warm front in which we linger
Ending 2019 on a wild weather zinger
It will all pass and skies will clear
Temps will drop a bit into the new year
In Great Lakes, storm rages on
Here, one more rain band and gone
Already a little brighter out
As cold air gives warm a rout
Change a'coming, never long to wait
Hope the end of your year is great
And, as 2019 shuts its door
We'll see what 2020 has in store
For all earthlings, planet wide
Just ain't no place to hide
Today On Earth

In the west
After the sun sets
From Venus, the Moon will dance away
Another moonth before it returns to play
By then Mercury will be back at sunset
Up early, catching Mars seems safe bet
Above the head of Scorpio
Nearing Antares, its rival foe
Both with the orange-gold glow
Star slightly brighter during this show
Jupiter & Saturn both behind the sun
Later 2020 they'll hook up, viewing fun
If you have a clearing sky
How early can Venus you spy
4:45, even 4:30?
Today on Earth

Oklahoma with 4.0 quake today
Aftershock for LSU beat down Saturday?
And, a 5.2 in southern Japan
Also at 27 North, 5.0 in Iran
Biggest today from lava eruption?
5.3 off S. Africa, sea-floor construction
Still quakes off S. Puerto Rico
But a calming aftershock show
Really, pretty normal quaking day
On big planet, Earth today
