Cool & Cloudy From The Wedge

Way off to the north and east
High pressure dome, still a beast
Sliding down a cool air wedge
Hammering our temps like a sledge
With little Low to south and east
Plenty of moisture for sky to feast
So we have a cool and cloudy day
Shouldn't be the August way
But last two days for last two years
Have brought us some cooling cheers
Two years ago at this time
Harvey had turned Texas to slime
26th, second day of that deluge
Live on a flood plain, you've no refuge
We humans are slow to learn
Never think it'll be our turn
117 years since Galveston lesson
It's the Earth and it ain't messin'
Betting most have rebuilt in place
Thinking won't be another storm embrace
Never know when next storm will come
Washed out again, you'll be looking dumb
Not sure what's up out in Mentone
Many little quakes in that Texas zone
Drove through there 4 years ago
There sure ain't much to show
Rio Grande rift not far away
Fault or magma causing sway?
Or fracking and salt water pumping?
That has got their rocks a'jumping
Also, quakes on Mid-Atlantic Ridge
Likely magma moving it a smidge
Always something shakin' on our world
Getting rock, air or water all swirled
Just enjoy the late summer cool
Bet the water feels nice in the pool
For me, take a nap or cut some wood
Know what I want and what I should
💤
Ahh, retirement options
Today on Earth!
