As we reflect today
On those gone away
Dying for our land
Perhaps we take a stand
And add not one new name
To those lost to the war game
How do we stop the madness of war
Am I dreaming into the future to far
Does money made on guns and bombs
Pay off the tears of mourning moms
Stopping the killing would be a nice
Way to honor their ultimate sacrifice
This Memorial Day
Let's come up with a way
To not pay
For war. No way!
Those fallen warriors fought for peace
With their final gift, a hope war would cease
Now it's up to me and you
To make their wish come true
To not solve problems with a gun
On our little world orbiting a sun
Undo an economy built on war and greed
Slow cancerous growth, and plant a seed
To sprout tendrils of peace
To cover & embrace
Earth!
Remember those fallen
With hopes of peace!
