I wonder..is my rain gauge overflowing? I checked it last night at 11:20, 2.8"! And, I checked it because I saw a big storm headed our way on radar that began almost as soon as I walked back in. More lightning and lots and lots more rain; 11 hours later and it's still pouring! CRAZY!! Flooding, you bet! Wet dog, you bet, he just couldn't stand it, had to go see his girl; light rain when he left but dumping when he returned 2 hours later. The back end of the front is near, Eta is about to clear Florida and November air will replace the swampy air of summer - dew points at or above 70 yesterday!!

Outside, the wind is whipping, leaves flying, fall colors mostly gone but it's still in the 60's; that will change but still no frosty temps in the forecast - just cooler, drier after the pending front passage.

In volcano news, 18 on the list this week. Indonesia's Merapi has been voted most likely to explode big time - no help coming from allah you overbreeding idiots!! 4 others join in the fun in the crowded island arc nation. Kamchatka still getting busy in eastern Russia. Popo not always on the list but always active - since mid 1990's anyway. Michael volcano on Saunders island on the eastern edge of the Scotia plate is showing signs of life as is Barren island in (claimed by) India's Andaman islands. Otherwise, pretty much the usual round the Ring suspects, it's a lively planet we inhabit.
At any time there are actually over 40 volcanoes showing some sign of vulcanism and the number would be in the thousands if we threw in hot springs, seeps, geysers, mud pits and the like. Lot of heat still inside the Earth, looking for a way out.
So, why do we keep adding to the heat problem...money!!
