A slow day on the planet all full of shake
Only Redoubt volcano had a big quake
The real news today is the deepening cold
But, in NYC balloons are flyin', high wind on hold
The crowds are all bundled and smiles abound
Later families will gather, thanks given round
With turkey, dressing and gravy galore
Then dessert, a nap, football, score!!
Got a look at bright Venus, out walking the dog
Early this morning, with no haze, clouds or fog
And, while I know Virgo's bright Spica is nearby
It was not visible in the slowly brightening sky
Tonight's Full Beaver Moon, while not quite at Perigee
Will still be quite large, and bright; go out and see.
But, today is really about family and giving thanks
For all the good things we have, quiet whiners and cranks
So, today when you've eaten for all that you're worth
Take a walk and give thanks, Today on Earth.
