As usual, and why I picked the third Saturday in October, today is perfect party weather. After a cool start (43 here) it will warm (cool?) into the low 60's and be a perfect night for a fire, there will be a fire! Another couple of chilly mornings before a nice week ahead with above average temps well up into the 70's.

Moon will be a very tiny wax crescent, tough to spot. Mars will dazzle tonight as Saturn and Jupiter shine on in the west, waiting for a visit Thursday by a much thicker crescent moon. Sun is a little stirred but no Earth zapping.
The water in the tropics is still cooking warm and a couple of disturbances are showing signs of storm development, we aren't done with this season. Colorado joins the giant fire club as the west burns on, again, thanks for nothing Punk'n Head prez.
Alaska; 5 degrees above previous average temps - 5 degrees! About what was predicted by Va. state climatologist 25+ years ago- on the coal payroll - as he denied global warming but said big warming wouldn't matter up north because it was too cold.
