Shortest Month Winds Down

The shortest month is winding down
Brown dog and I about out of town
Not excited about the colder climes
But spring is coming to northern times
Deep cold is back in the upper mid-west
Well below zero is quite the test
Still in the 70's in ole St. Pete
Sandals ok but not bare feet
Yet an eastern wind around the high
Sitting over Va, draws showers nigh
I'm going to try and dodge the rain
Heading north along the coastal plain
That will take Canopus from my sight
Blocked by round Earth in early night
Still above, Sirius rules the winter skies
The Dog Star, blue-white for our eyes
With Red Giants, Betelgeuse & Aldebaran
Dazzling in evening, gone long 'fore dawn
When brilliant planets take over the sky
Earth just spinning, spinning on by
And shaky, too, but not much today
Mag 5 in Indo & Kuril isle way
Otherwise, mostly the normal spots
Pacific rim plates bound up like knots
February winds down, more sunlight about
Soon daylight saving will leave no doubt
That warmer times are coming
Blooming flowers & hummers humming
Glad I came south for an early taste
Was fun leaving town with great haste
But, reality has a way of pulling us back
Few more weeks to deal with winter attack
Hope your day and week are going well
And whenever rings your personal bell
You'll get out on Earth, today'd be swell!
