Subduction Saturday...

More & more, everyday
The Pacific plate slips away
From Tonga around to Anchorage
Westward push from East Pacific Ridge
Is stuffing that slab back into Earth
80 million years, back to lava birth
Did anyone really notice, doubt they did
As slowly old rock into seafloor slid
What I am noticing around here
Back to cold, sky ain't clear
Roller coaster jet stream w/ southern dip
And, back in the cold air does slip
Longer days & steeper sun
Will keep winter on the run
Straight to summer or ease to spring
Sure seems.. wilder is the new thing
Lot of rain or zilch, zero, none
We know relentless, will be the sun
More money in the fossil version
So, russian douche with diversion
Another war about power & oil
We all do knee-jerk, shudder, recoil
Then into our cars & off we roll
8 billion humans, it's taken its toll
Still Earth spins on, unconcerned
Occasionally, seems we've learned
The real issue, too many of us
Whine & bitch & make a fuss
But, on we breed
Then beg about our need
Yesterday, I bought more gas
None of us gets a pass
I can look in mirror & see
The problem & it is me
You can see the problem, too
In your mirror, it'd be you
Cancerous humans on a roll
Little future planning, out of control
None, one or two GREAT KIDS
Population growth on the skids
Buying, using, eating less
Only way to slowly reverse our mess
Plant a garden, get outside
Take a walk, not a ride
Unless, it's on a bike
Me, about time for my first hike..
Today On Earth
