The winds of April continue to swirl
Mostly, all around the world
Pressure & temps being unequal
Carry on; Wild Wind: the sequel
Looking like it's trying to storm
An old & new springtime norm
'Cept the storms getting crazy
On an Earth, somewhat hazy
With excess CO2
From me & you
We're all guilty, pumping it out
Driving & flying all about
Using & buying & burning more
Fossils, long trapped in Earth's store
Yesterday brought a smile to my face
Oil & gas greed getting big erase
Oilers paying to haul it away
Fewer driving, excess in the way
Maybe dump it in their headquarters
Just like they pollute our waters
Exxon will push to head of line
When it comes to bailout time
100+ year of tax breaks not enough
Only 8 billion this quarter, so rough
Texas leads in bailout cash
But, way down list of viral bash
Will want help with fracking quakes
Get our cash, whatever it takes
Today On Earth
Indo/Aussie/Pacific boundary
Is the place today's quakes be
With aftershocks in western USA
And, 'bout average up Alaska way
And, Puerto Rico, aftershocks, sure
For islanders, seems no cure
Today On Earth

Tonight is Lyrid meteor shower
Not a real meteor power
But, could be 15-20 per hour
Over the NE sky they will tower
Shower goes back over 2,600 years
How to watch, get out lawn chairs
Buddle up & settle down
Look north-ish, eyes'll wander 'roun'
Sadly, best in middle of night
Or when Vega is at greatest height
In hour just before dawn
Just keep watching, while you yawn
If up then, check out Southeast
Still got morning planet feast
Venus still dazzles after sunset
Eye treat, you bet!
Stay safe
Be smart
Mute/ignore prez
Stay apart
Today On Earth
Tomorrow is
EARTH DAY
CELEBRATE OUR
PLANET
