Rivah Sittin' With A Breeze

The Coastal Plain rivers
Of the Old Dominion
One of Earth's magic places
In my geologic opinion
Once rivers, flowing fast
During the last ice ages
Now flooded estuaries
Dotted with crab cages
So wide and slow
Hardly seems like a river
Until you get in and
Feel water on deliver
Heading slowly to the Bay
Battling the tide
Fresh water floating high
On the southern side
While ocean water burrows in
Along the northern bank
Finally mixing in the Bay
That giant oyster tank
Another hot, sultry day
But sitting in the shade
Nice breeze & cold IPA
Today I got it made!
One 6.0 quake today
Deep below Pacific floor
So far from any land
No tsunami on a shore
Otherwise, quiet quake day
On our broken rock
But, still pressures build
Release: the next big shock!
Lovely waning gibbous moon
In early morning sky
With late rising & evening clouds
Morning best time to spy
Cumulus have combined
To quickly go Nimbo
Lightning gets much closer
It's inside we're gonna go
Time to clean up our mess
And, get into a safer place
Poor Zorro the dog
He's about to lose his face
Might be back
We'll see
Today on Earth
