The weather guys got it right, TORNADOES! Ripped through the south yesterday, Alabama taking it hardest..tornadoes seem to know where the trailers are!! Seems at least 5 dead, major destruction, one twister almost a mile wide and went for quite the lengthy tour. The center of that whole mess is well to our north but the pressure gradient between it and the High pushing it away are creating a windy Friday. Not too bad here, we'll hold off on judgement, with the temps pushing into the 80's today, the big wilding may be yet to come. It's already 75 out and feels fine!!
Big ole (relatively) shake, 5.8, on the sea floor on the eastern edge of the Caribbean plate today with 4.9 aftershock and other shakes in the area. Volcano stirring just to the south, thousands of quakes around Puerto Rico over last few years..something is brewing in paradise..well, maybe just the tropics, paradise might be a reach, it is mostly the 3rd world. Elsewhere, a pretty low key quake day.
2 dozen volcanoes on the week's list does remind us the lull in quakes is just that, a lull. Ground & rock has to be breaking and moving for all that magma to get through; it's a shifty planet.
Vaccinations are ongoing, and getting into more arms (lots of hypocrites seem to be getting the shot..:) but case numbers and deaths, after a very short lull are rising again; almost 70K new cases and another 1,270 Americans did not make it to today. The TrumpVirus spreads on and I'm not surprised with number of folks I saw out eating and drinking yesterday..it was Thursday, right..at Blue Mountain brewery in Nelson County. Mask were worn, tables spread but you can't eat or drink with a mask on..so..we'll see if my one shot (65% protection???) and luck holds out. A big brown dog had himself a fun day, although he's not thrilled about a leash... Great to see old friends, especially one that really needed to get out. Tough to stay in with Spring springing!!
The GeoTrio
Out nearby star has calmed a bit, no big blasts headed our way. The Moon, two days from Full will be bright tonight!!
The birds that were chowing down on my feeders seem to have...well..I don't know what they have done but the feeders still have seed in them from yesterday. Only a couple of birds out there now, usually it was dozens. Perhaps, nests to build and the protein supply has improved with worms crawling and bugs suddenly filling (seems that way if you stop outside) the air; not a joy of Spring. A big gust just moved the entire forest, no leaves, it's easy to see branches swaying.
And, no doubt, branches will be falling, heads-up awareness will be needed, Today On Earth!
