Lovely Day, Unless You're in Greece!

The rain stayed south but the southern air has crept in to VA, a lovely day out. Greece, and I'm not sure of the weather there, is all shook up today. A magnitude 6.3 quake and aftershocks in the upper 4's and lower 5's has, in a country of old, often stone buildings, caused major destruction. I'll wait for news to find out more details but looks like lots of folks spent the night outside for fear of more falling debris. Several 5+ magnitude quakes around the world seem to be seafloor slips, with little or no damage done on nearby land.
Va slips to 3rd in TrumpVirus deaths/day behind leader Cali and TX in a close second. Va looking to send more kids back to school and open up a little more; maybe not the best move with a lousy vaccine rollout. Taxus, with another 275 dead yesterday, 44K+ dead already, is totally open with mask mandate lifted, their governor a complete idiot, counting on residents to do the right thing. This in a state that couldn't deal with a cold spell and still has folks boiling water because greed comes first, safety and service far down any to do lists in the Loon Star state. Still the US lies swamped in the Egyptian river, Da Nile; reality not really on any agendas. Still, Earth does not care what we puny humans believe or do.
There are a couple of small sunspots, still nightly auroras up north but no pressing solar issues, nice to have the sunshine here, it's still soggy everywhere. The Mars/Pleiades show last night was lovely, very cool with Aldebaran nearby and by continuing a straight line to the east, another red object, super giant Betelgeuse beaming in Orion. Throw in the other bright winter stars, stunning. Let it get good and dark to really see The Seven Sisters/Subaru. Should be a nice mild evening to check it out!!!
Enjoy the day, this blog is late today after hours of time wasted dealing with verizon, my online usage gone from meager to off the charts, no good answer why, likely tied to apple device updates but in a world where big business doesn't have to care, thoughtful, helpful, real answers seem vestiges of the past. I'm sure there are more issues to come...the big v claims my new plan has all these free TV streaming options..when I can barely get online after dark..not seeing it happening, Today On Earth.
