Oopps, Missed President's Day

When you mix retirement with Holladay
I often wonder, what day is it anyway?
Yesterday, I forgot it was a holiday
The fairly new, President's Day
The holiday used to be for G. Washington
The USA's true founding son
We honored old Honest Abe, too
Abe on Feb. 15 and George, Feb. 22
But, w/ economy based on shopping & greed
A Monday off seemed the national need
But, is every president worthy of holiday?
Certainly not lying moron we have today
Nixon? Ford? McKinley? or Grant?
Who can even name them all, I can't
So, forget prez day, Saturday I'll celebrate
George Washington's B'day, he was great!

A few raindrops have just arrived
Seems no deluge to be survived
Different story in Mississippi
Major flooding they continue to see
A foot of rain that falls quickly
Will make a flood plain look sickly
But, we know, live on flood plain
Sometime, it's going to rain
And, flood
Leaving lots of mud
Not a secret, it's in the name
Still folks build, all the same
Then want help from rest of us
Don't build there, no muss, no fuss
We claim to be so intelligent
But, pray help will be heaven sent
Instead of using our big brain
And, not building on a flood plain!

Another 60 degree February day
Before a little chill comes our way
Dreams of a Thursday dusting of snow
When likely south the moisture will go
Cool, warm, wet, cool, warm, wet
Global warming, that seems safe bet
For summer throw in hot & dry
Then to ice caps, wave bye bye
Yet, along coast when high tides rise
Far inland, seems to be big surprise
Maybe they can move to flood plain
To deny reality, whine & complain
Maybe clean coal jobs coming back
Maybe Russians not into cyber attack
Maybe Punk'n Head prez telling truth
Maybe Yankees will clone Babe Ruth
Maybe a republican
Will accept blame & have a plan
But, not
Today On Earth

Clouds, so missed Moon occulting Mars
Tomorrow, Moon by Jupiter for a pause
Beneath Saturn for Thursday pre-sunrise
Quite the planet treat in pre-dawn skies
Venus is still dusk's bright beacon
Betelgeuse continues to weaken
Here, raindrops gone, sun peakin' out
Just saw two big woodpeckers about
Pileated not usually in so close
Hairy flew in for suet pose
Gold Finches flocking to chow
Raking food out, right now
Just saw a buzzard cruising by
Lot of action in the sky
Get out and check your Earth scene
Bet something cool's waiting to be seen
Today On Earth

Yeah, there are a few quakes
But, none creating any house breaks
Well, maybe 3.9 in Texas; Mentone
Gnawing on the fracking bone
Nothing but more issues there
But, it's west Texas, so I don't care
LOL!!
