June, so soon!! Actually, everything seems like it has taken and lasted forever over the last 15 months but change rolls & roils onward. Today kicks off Hurricane Season in the Atlantic basin; with one minor storm so far but none on the horizon. Meteorologists also consider today the start of summer, as do most public and private pools, although the water is likely a bit chilly still. The rest of the world, for millennium, start summer at the Summer Solstice, this year our max north end tilt happens very late on June 20th EDT. Earth does not keep statistics or dates, just spins and orbits onward, in lockstep with the nearby star but influenced by our large-ish natural satellite; just enjoy the ride!!
Sicily's Mt. Etna, seldom quiet, has gone big with its latest blast, shutting down the nearby airport. More volcano updates Thursday. Slightly above average quake day, but still only 4 quakes at or a bit above mag. 5; none in spots to do much damage. No big Alaskan aftershocks.
High pressure rules again in the East, sliding slightly farther east and warming a few degrees above yesterday, low 80's likely today. The continuing mess in the southern plains rains & storms on but will arrive and influence our weather later in the week (it's Tuesday..a Monday holiday can even throw off a retired Holladay) with storm chances; our recent 1 1/2" of rain not really ending our drought.
Well...maybe dry spell is better for here, the western US is having a drought. Fires fueled by too many people using/wasting too much water and stealing water from places that didn't really have enough to steal. You could throw in the too much CO2, driving the current major climatic shift, from car exhaust from too many cars and too much driving in the place that made smog and congestion the standard but really NOT bad forestry management as donny the douche claimed last year as he made sure the federal government he supposedly headed did nothing to help; lie and blame from don the con. A very good chance this fire season in the entire west will be worse than last year's record smasher. More burning, more CO2. And, on the warming of our world rolls..."we'll be carbon neutral by 2040" claim all sorts of delusional, lying corporations in their ads; by then it will be so far past mattering and looking back at those claims will be a not funny, pathetic joke.
TrumpVirus deaths and cases continue the downward slide, I hope that will hold, I fear the unvaccinated TDS deniers will not let that happen.
Day 152 for 2021, get out and enjoy, Today On Earth!
