The heat is back bringing the muggies
And, of course, there are the buggies
Mosquitoes, flies and ticks abound
Today, too, I heard a bee buzzin' sound
The recent rains, though sparse right here
Remind us all, it's water life holds dear
Rampant fecundity has Earth lush and green
Just caught a tick, felt but unseen
The tick will not suck any of my blood
After some squeezing he will get a flood
Of water, heading down the drain
Alas, zillions more looking for a vein
While brown dog is napping, squirrels romp
Gobbling bird seed, looking plump
No bear sightings but he's around
So black, so stealthy not a sound
Until the dog starts barking...
A pretty quiet earthquake day
Only one above 5 and that was way
Down where the Scotia plate does often sway
No big aftershocks rocking Peruvian's day
A few quakes in the mid to upper fours
Rattle your windows, but buckle no floors
And, with heat and haze night sky viewing
May not be worth risking mosquito chewing
The moon is a waning crescent, thin
And, you'd need to be up early when
It'll be low in dim Aquarius
Gotta be brave and quite curious
To try and check that out
Today On Earth
Better to sneak out during light
Then back into the cool, out of sight!
