Another lazy day in north Georgia; it gets warm and a little humid but still a very nice day for early June. The cumulus built up but no storms evolved. A fairly lovely day.
The earthquake list for today looks like the volcano list: the Ring of Fire is the Shaky Ring today and of course there's Oklahoma, off the Ring of Fire but in the Zone of Fracking where if there's oil it's ok to blow up the Earth.
And, the volcano list is extensive: the Ring is on Fire starting with 3 volcanoes in Chile and heading up into central America with big belching mountains all along the thin (volcanic) band that connects the Americas. Alaska's Aleutian Islands are fired up, further along the Ring to Kamchatka there's more action, the Kuril Islands of Russian and Japanese (and they are still arguing about who's island is who's), down into Indonesia and PNG to finish up the list. Well, Reunion Island and Hawaii are of the Ring but on the list. Only the northwest US seems off the list, let's hope that remains the case but it is Earth and there are only guidelines, no rules (except there WILL BE change).
In the sky this evening, the moon is waning and up later and later but Jupiter continues to drop toward Venus in the west as darkness falls, the two brightest planets dazzling and dancing toward a rendezvous later this month and early next.
In other Earth news, hordes of synchronous fireflies are lighting up the Smokey's, T'storms are trashing the northern plains, heat is cooking the west coast and the summer solstice is 2 weeks away. I head to the deep south tomorrow and into the heart of Texas - eeeeeeeeeehhhhhhaaaaaaaa!
I also got to meet and hold my newest cousin, James Henry Diersen, a very sweet boy!!
