Much of my day on Earth was spent in Austin at an old municipal golf course, Lions Muny. Built way back about 1900, the course is owned by UT (Univ. of Texas…) and may be sold and razzed because it is sitting on some prime real estate. That would be a shame, there were hordes of kids on the course learning the game and lots of folks that made me feel young playing as well. Players seemed as likely to be women as men; good to see in a time when everyone could use a little more time outside and exercise (more walkers today than riders). Hang on Lions Muny!
I played with David, an aid to former Texas governor, Rick Perry, that have moved on to Fish and Game away from the political limelight to spend more time with his two daughters. Those daughters will be nannied by the other member of our threesome this summer, David's nephew, Dodge, free for the summer after his first year at Baylor. We all had moments when we shined and that were ugly, such is the nature of golf. The golf was great, the traffic getting there, WHOA! Glad I don't have to do that daily.
Today's weather was hot again but there was a nice breeze and big, fluffy cumulus clouds all around; perhaps a little more moisture moving in as the system stalled over the far southwest begins to move eastward. T'storms chances increase in the Texas forecast for the next week. We'll see what I encounter on my move to Albuquerque this Sunday.
Today's photos include me with the local limestone (tomorrow I'm being promised Granite!) as well as the Texas evening sky with the two little dots being Venus (low) and Jupiter (higher). You will have to look close in the picture but not if you go out this evening. Venus is wildly bright and Jupiter is no slouch either - much brighter than any stars - although Arcturus, almost overhead at dusk, challenges Jupiter for brightness. Saturn still sits above Scorpio in the east as we turn away from our star and darkness descends on our part of the planet. Hope you were able to get out on earth today but don't be afraid to check out the big sky, Tonight on Earth.
