18 years ago today
Moved to tirehouse to stay
My bills mostly went away
But, it was camping that day
Floor was gravel, no windows in
Every 3 days, buy ice again
REC was a pain to me
Bringing in electricity
"You're not going to use much power"
Asshole said to me, my reply..
I thought that's what we're supposed to do
Asshole, no answer coming thru
REC, the corporate coop
Their slime won't stop
Got head up Dominion's butt
Monopolistic power slut
Solar farms to replace trees
Then charge higher fees
Same old greed
Electricity we need
For your lights or shower
They wanna maintain power
Need a way to bill for the sun
Make our own power, we won
And, they do not want that
Gotta keep stockholders fat
Like everybody else today
In the land of Da Nile, USA
Earth
Still don't care
Sun, still shining down
Free energy all around
But, we need leadership
That's where we all trip
Only ones posing as leaders
Are just money bleeders
Padding their pockets
When we plug into the sockets
How to cut cord, easy proof
Put solar panels on your roof
Seems pricey to start
But, with bills you depart
Adds up pretty quick
Panels work pretty slick
Just sit in sunshine
Power rolls down your line
Sell to grid, charge a battery
From bills you can be free
After 18 years I recommend
It's the only way to send
Dominion & REC
Into bankruptcy
Wouldn't that be sweet
Sustainability, what a treat
And, we sure need it
Today On Earth
Sun still spot free
Need to get out, check Mercury
As high as it's going to get
June 4th, after sunset
Gibbous moon getting bright
Tween Arcturus & Spica tonight
High pressure in charge today
We are talking, a gorgeous day
Still haven't hit 90 degrees hot
Soon, we're gonna hit that spot
Wednesday?
Thursday?
Get out, enjoy the cool today
It's June, it ain't gonna stay
Earthquake scene, average day
Puerto Rico still in shaky way
Plate boundaries the place
Daily reminder in our face
Earth is alive & in charge
Any day, likely to barge
Into human reality
Already brewing, storm #3
Hurricane season starts today
New hot Earth ready to play
Me, I'll not be taking to the streets
Or doing close up meet & greets
18 years been hunkered down
No sense going to town
Today On Earth
