Tomato Time

I seem to have fended off the deer
And, it has become quite clear
That summer tomato time is here🍅
From me that always draws a cheer
Had them in a bowl with lunch
Now dehydrating, got a bunch
In the freezer in a ziplock bag
To brighten up mid-winter drag
Cherries, Romas, basic Celebrity
Cherokee Purple, the best I see
I like peppers, zucchini & cucumber🥒
But, what I hope come September
Is that still ripening on the vine
My tomatoes will still be looking fine!
🍅

Just had a big ole quake off Japan
But, very deep, no evacuation plan
Magma oozes, mid-ocean ridges shake
Molten rock always ready to break
Through to the surface, then cool down
New crust forming all around
Most quakes are a natural thing
But, in Oklahoma from a human fling
Blowing up shale way down deep
Oilers deny any water pollution seep
Get their oil and natural gas
But can't sell salt water for cash
So, they drill even deeper down
To where ancient bedrock is found
Pump down the water, lubricating
Old faults, which slip, quakes a'waiting
Oily lawyers always deny
We're not to blame they always cry
But, other states have stopped the fracking
Soon no quakes or foundations cracking
Follow the lies that follow the money
Rich getting richer, all must be sunny
🌅But Sun, Earth, Moon don't care🌘
To them we're neither here nor there
Human hubris, growth & greed
Taking so much more than we need
Will we get it before it's too late
Keep farms & trees, stop the hate
So many people actually have a clue
We've got to keep battling through
Work together to refute the lies
Logic doesn't have to be a surprise
It's fairly hot outside today
But, still humidity held in sway
Another night to gaze at the stars
Dream of a world without wars
Summer Triangle at Saturn aims
Jupiter to west with brightness claims
Get out, check out your world
Nice summer day, give it a whirl
And, to make this day the best
Put a local tomato to the test
Yummmmmy
Today On Earth
