Earth moved, it was less than..fun
Ceiling shook, floor went up & down
Bricks & blocks flew all around
Quail fault slipped, was revealed
Ancient tensions no longer sealed
East coast rocks, dense, old & cold
So up the entire coast message told
Up in DC, George's monument broke
At magnitude 5.8, quake was no joke
High School, Elementary, beyond repair
School needed to continue, but where
Shared the middle, trailer 'park' grew
Then POD classroom, do what ya do
TJ kids worse than us
Actual trailers, quite the fuss
No matter what the weather be
Little kids..outdoor trek, just to pee
We all survived, not one death
Actually, into schools, a new breath
New HS, new elementary, too
County, quake insurance, who knew!
Traces still, on Roundabout, easy to see
Not a'one, standing, brick chimney
Aftershocks, roiled on for a year
Above mag. 3, tinge of fear..
Millions remember where they were
Any mention, the memories stir
