Heading North

Heading north, dodging rain
Back out on the road, again
Reality rears its ugly head
Driving in America, semi-dread
Cruise control, most don't use
Signals, mirrors seem to confuse
Texting, talking and stuffing food
Clueless and selfish with attitude
Me, I want to pick a speed
Left lane to pass when I need
Cuz I want to stay out of your way
So you have a fine ole day
Main focus, attention when we drive
Then we all can stay alive
Had a lovely time on my southern stay
Looking forward to next trip this way
Alas, it's time to put on socks
I know they're not cool with crocs
But my toes don't like the cold
And, with little hair you can't be bold
So I'll have a hat close by today
And sweater and jacket not far away
Time to load up the car
I know a dog will not be far
That rascal knows what's going down
Abandoned once, owners just left town
How could they leave this boy behind
Their loss, for me, what a find
Now I know he's a road tripping dog
But, time to wind down this blog
Have a fine day, we'll chat soon
Or step outside, check out the moon
Waning crescent rising late
But, more blogging have to wait
Get out, Today on Earth

Shortest Month Winds Down

The shortest month is winding down
Brown dog and I about out of town
Not excited about the colder climes
But spring is coming to northern times
Deep cold is back in the upper mid-west
Well below zero is quite the test
Still in the 70's in ole St. Pete
Sandals ok but not bare feet
Yet an eastern wind around the high
Sitting over Va, draws showers nigh
I'm going to try and dodge the rain
Heading north along the coastal plain
That will take Canopus from my sight
Blocked by round Earth in early night
Still above, Sirius rules the winter skies
The Dog Star, blue-white for our eyes
With Red Giants, Betelgeuse & Aldebaran
Dazzling in evening, gone long 'fore dawn
When brilliant planets take over the sky
Earth just spinning, spinning on by
And shaky, too, but not much today
Mag 5 in Indo & Kuril isle way
Otherwise, mostly the normal spots
Pacific rim plates bound up like knots
February winds down, more sunlight about
Soon daylight saving will leave no doubt
That warmer times are coming
Blooming flowers & hummers humming
Glad I came south for an early taste
Was fun leaving town with great haste
But, reality has a way of pulling us back
Few more weeks to deal with winter attack
Hope your day and week are going well
And whenever rings your personal bell
You'll get out on Earth, today'd be swell!

Florida Cools, New England Hammered

Northwest winds and hazy sun
End Florida's 80 degree run
Still in 70's so not complaining
Cold front through is the explaining
Big monster storm that hammered the east
Has moved up to New England: still a beast
Fairly quiet day of earthquakes
PNG, Tonga, Mid Atlantic biggest shakes
Morning planet show is fine
Venus, Saturn, Jupiter in line
Venus is so bright, almost insane
Two mornings ago, thought it a plane
Pretty cool to see the two bright stars
Sirius very close, Canopus very far
Both way brighter than our sun
But, Canopus by far the brightest one
And giant, too, almost engulfing Mercury
If in our solar system it happened to be
Which means there'd be no you or me
But, life on Arrakis, fremen do see
For Canopus is the star of Dune
A desert world where sandworms swoon
Fiction (or not) it's too far away
So on Earth, we get to play
Today
And, everyday!
Enjoy!

Ecuadorian Quake, Canopus, Florida: 80 Degrees

Today Florida is looking at 80 degrees
Hot for February but, ok with a breeze
While to the north it's cold and rain
Not looking forward to that again
Farther south the planet is shaking
Magnitude 7.5, Ecuador is quaking
Quake was deep down in the ground
Still felt for hundreds of miles around
Most quakes today in eastern Pacific
In Indonesia's 7 eruptions seems quite terrific
Popo's blasting, Etna pumping out new land
Krakatau still at it, Agung almost out of hand
Planet Earth's quite active, average day
Yet in the right spot, get out and play
Touring Tampa with Rox and the Breyer
Shorts and sandals, Florida attire
Got to see the second brightest star
Canopus is visible down south this far
With the big dog Sirius sitting just above
Out for a walk with my big dog of love
We thought it a plane but it just sat still
A new star! for science geek, quite a thrill
Hope your Friday is so very fine
Perhaps a malted beverage or some wine
The national emergency seems far away
daChumps just TV watching, let's all go play
Enjoy, Today on Earth!

No School Closings Here

While Louisa schools are closed today
In Florida, it was golf to play
Badly
Sadly
But, still better than snow and ice
St. Pete tomorrow, 80's, nice
Hope your day on Earth
Made it all worth
While
Smile
Seeeeeeeya soon

Greetings From the Sunshine State

Had to do it, had to go
Needed a break, from snow
And, rain and cold and gloom
So, in the car with dog, zoom
Got a tour of Tallahassee
Not a bad place to be
But, right now, dog no doubt
He is lying and looking out
Time for a walk...
Back later, we'll talk
Doesn't feel like a national emergency!

Still no emergency feel
America mostly even keel
Sure, there's gun violence today
But, that's not going to go away
Lots of quakes where Indo-Australian plate
And Pacific slab are trying to mate
South America west coast is rockin', too
Chickasha, OK, shaking a two-steppin' shoe
Puerto Rican trench still going down
Lots of quakes off San Juan town
Look for tonight
To be rather bright
February Full Moon, a sight
In Florida warmth, I'll be out alright
It's the Super Snow Moon
At perigee, close to Earth, view: swoon!!

Early risers still have quite the show
Saturn, Venus, Jupiter almost is a row
Still your planet, still spinning fast
Today's setting, soon will be past
And, tomorrow anew, more change
How's your location been rearranged
Only know if you go out and look
Put down your phone, mark that book
Go out and wander, see what you see
Today on Earth, where you should be!

Aurora alert for those in the far north
Solar wind giving a blast to the Earth

Emergency!! Road Trip!

Weather emergency here
All rain no clear
So, like our idiot "leader"
I declare an emergency,
southern road trip needed
Florida seems nice now
I could use it, and how
TOE from the road this week
And, next
Don't really know
But, gotta pack and go

daChump Weather: Erratic & Unstable

OMFG!
National emergency!
National emergency!
Up in ol' DeeCee
Need Russians to pee
Maybe stop moron spree
Or go put white ball on tee
Then the rest of us will be
OK!

At dinner last night,
Sure didn't seem like emergency
Only in White House, fright!
Maybe I'd tweet denials
If I was worried of pending trials

Jefferson said,
government that governs least
governs best
Another wise quote:
Better to be silent and thought a fool
Than open your mouth or tweet
And remove all doubt
Today, moron that tweets less
would certainly tweet best
And, spare us all

Like daChump moods
Big shift here in weather attitudes
Yesterday; golf: cloudy and warm
Today rain and sleet, winter norm
May clear late but rain soon back
For Sunday, most of week, no slack
2018 rain trend rolls along
Stay in and nap, listen to song
Or bundle up and get on out
Not that bad, no emergency, no doubt!

Lot of quakes today in Aleutian chain
Indonesia, Japan, Kurils rocking again
Northern mid-Atlantic ridge shook
5.3 magnitude that likely took
Some fish by surprise, but no big wave
Hmmm, pinpoint tsunami could be a save
Roll up the Bay, Potomac quiet as a mouse
Then rise up and wash away White House:)
Not like we'd notice, few would care
World would get better without mo-ron there
Cause the less the slime do in ole DeeCee
The better it is for you and me!
Govern less, spare us all
Waste time and money on stupid wall
We need some folks that will actually work
Unlike entitled, fat, lazy, American jerks
"Just give my pills, disability checks"
I'm so clever, I can drive and text"
My short trip yesterday told me they can't
But, I need a break from today's rant
Rain has stopped, time to walk
Give yourself a break, try facebalk!
Or call someone, have a nice talk
But, hands-free if in a car
Better with drink in bar!!🍻
Could take you far

Warmer With Less Sun

The southern air is drifting north
Clouds reroute sun slow the warming
Still not bad for mid-February
While at florists men are swarming
Valentine's Day marketing mania
Chocolate, flowers, jewelry, dinner
Gotta prove your love's a winner
Keep buying for prez day sales
Shop and shop and shop some more
Credit card and US debt just soar

Give live not cut flowers
They last for years!!

While around the Ring of Fire
18 volcanoes reflect colliding plate love
Subducting down, getting so hot
Rock gets liquid under the spot🌋
Recycling life's goodies back above
Pressure relief it's only desire

Pretty slow quake day
Only one above magnitude 5
Gave south Peru a sway
Quake and volcano maps jive
Except no mountains alive
On US soil, this week
Kilauea not seeming to revive
Indonesia & Costa Rica for volcano freaks

Clouds keep thickening but no rain
Precipitation will be a weekend pain
Enjoy the mild Valentine's Day💕
Or tomorrow before winter's sway
Returns to remind us all
Tilted planet moods make us small
Winter, summer, spring or fall
Earth just don't care about a wall

Speaks volumes when lying orange moron is so proud
That US government will continue, I'm cryin' out loud
No progress like we're hopin'
Just keep the government open...
Impeach and shoot the traitor, cries a growing crowd

A little slump along the HersheyDog Creek
Earth/gravity take no breaks

And, Now...Sunny & Breezy

The sun shines through
With a westerly breeze
Looking like a nice day
To get out and seize
The birds are swarming
Two Downeys on one suet
While on the far block
The Red Belly's going to it
Juncos, Finches & Chickadees
Bouncing on feeders in the wind
Nuthatch sneakin' in for a snack or
Cruising trees in a downward trend
Not quite warm enough
For any bugs to be about
So waves of feathered dinosaurs
Will keep on cleaning feeders out
3 days coming with sun
And temps above the norm
But, by the upcoming weekend
Back into the cycle of storm
As usual, where will you be
Which side of the line: rain or snow
When you live in Virginia
You never really know

About a third of the quakes on today's list
Are about magnitude 5 or just missed
And, all of those are on the western Ring
Kamchatka to Kiwiland shifting plates sing
Waxing gibbous moon will be visible tonight
Plan a early evening walk, it'll be bright
Reddish Mars will be to the moon's right
Early risers will see Jupiter, quite the sight
But, you gotta push sunrise to see
Venus & Saturn above Sagittarius' pot of tea
Lots to see, all day or night long
Get on out, it's where you belong
Our sweet little planet home
Just waiting for you to roam
Today on Earth!

Same As Yesterday: RAW & NASTY

The same weather as yesterday
No fun to get out and play
Sun forecast to return soon
Be nice to see quarter moon
But, that's today and I won't see
Any sky 'til clouds do flee
A few more quakes around today
5.9 shakin' down Mariana trench way
And, southwest Pacific back to rockin'
Tonga, Indo, PNG, not real shockin'
Hope to see the sun on the morrow
But, clouds + rain = nap: no sorrow
Stay warm and dry and try a nap
Today's advice from old retired sap
I'll get another walk in, it's what I do
You'll feel better if you get out, too
Today On Earth.

Raw, Nasty, Rainy Day

Today's a basic Virginia winter rain
No snow, some ice, cold rain, a pain
North of here it's mostly snow
Which could be lots worse, ya know
A wild brown dog don't seem to care
Although he likes toweling off wet hair
Standing by the wood stove 'til hot
Then a nap on his cozy spot
We did take a late morning rain stroll
But, less than an inch, no creek roll
Last year at this time, different story
Almost five inches, flooding glory
Very quiet quake day, even Pacific west
Virgin Islands, Alaska, Cali most of rest
We all know that will change, soon
And, I know what we won't see, the moon
Clouds and rain will just keep on coming
With another icy start, more finger numbing
A little warmth and sun mid-week
Still don't think a course I'll seek
Cut and split more wood
That's what I should
Be doing, but not today
I sense a nap on the way
While the pork green chili simmers
And a fresh batch of salsa glimmers
All is good at the tire house
Amazing, haven't even seen a mouse
Maybe the rafter snake's still on patrol
Nice having snakes doing rodent control
Living on Earth, Today!

Cold With A Mess Coming! No Quake Here?!

What ever I heard and felt, not a quake
So, I'm not sure what to make
Of the big boom and rumble
Sure gave me a sensory stumble
While none here, plenty of quakes
In the western Pacific, land of shakes
Here, we are locked in with cold
Clouds thicken, rain we're told
Or maybe sleet or snow
Early tomorrow we'll know
Winter is far from loosing its grip
Reminder will be freezing rain's slip
This week we stay in winter's grip
Don't think a golf ball I'll get to rip
But the sun's earlier rise and later set
Reminds us seasonal rules will be met
Longer the sun does shine
And, more direct feels fine
Likely no "it's too hot" whine
But, jonquil buds are a sign
Of constant change
And, if you can arrange
For a check of clear skies
Tonight, delight for your eyes
Lunar crescent hanging left of Mars
In Pisces, west of dazzling winter stars
Red, orange, yellow, blue and white
The variety of winter stars, a delight
Taurus battles Orion, trailing his hounds
Gemini's twins, Earth making the rounds
Hope you enjoy today's rotation
And, avoid any conflict in your nation
Enjoy you day and pass it along
Take a nap, listen to song
Today On Earth!!

February Is Back, Little Quake??

Our April warmth has come and gone
In February, it's not going to last long
A mid-winter thaw is nice but a tease
Now back into winter garb we squeeze
Venturing out, was a bit of a shock
Yet, longer daylight shortens winter's clock
Not listed yet, but I felt a quake
10:30ish, big rumble with tirehouse shake
If it wasn't a quake, something exploded
Fingers crossed: fascist neighbor mis-loaded
Volcano list updated, 14 belching mountains
Usual names, only Fuego with lava fountains
But, plenty of ash and pyroclastic flows
Pretty typical Ring O Fire shows
Lovely sunset last night, but where's moon
Then shining, notice me! it popped out soon
But, too cloudy to see much more
And, nothing early, as I peeked out the door
Even though Saturn, Venus and Jupiter sat
In line above Sagittarius's teapot hat
Tonight Mars sits straight above crescent moon
Closer tomorrow but here rain will likely ruin

And, in petty human news
Fools still offended by past views
Learn and grow but can't undo the past
It's the future that's really coming fast
Worry about how the future will judge
How from growth & greed we won't budge
How offensive our polluted waters and skies
Ancient superstitions cling to power through lies
How long will oil and war steer our way?
Remember, Earth don't care and it don't play
Be nicer, judge less, share a smile, ok
And, get out for lovely walk on Earth today!!

Half In Clouds: Earth

About half of Earth is shrouded in cloud
All the time
First astronauts, noticed, exclaimed out-loud
All the time
Water in the sea & air, on & in the ground
All the time
Freezing & falling, melting & splashing around
All the time
All the world round

Fresh, brackish or salty, hot or cold: life sustaining
Most of the time
Acid or Basic: chemical balance maintaining
Most of the time
Human disrespect, neglect, ubiquitous pollution
Most of the time
Overbreeding & greed, offer slim hope of solution
Most of the time
All the world round

Third orb out, sweet star, liquid water: FUN
All the time
Hit the planet jackpot, woooo we won!
All the time
Yet, we behave like idiots, lotto winners
All the time
Pollute water, ignore sun, ice gets thinner
All the time

Cooler But Still Not Bad For February

A little sun warmed things up
Now clouds are back but not my pup
That brown dog left early
Thought, breakfast surely
Nope, back for mid-morning snack
And, to his girlfriend's, right back
Have to go track him down soon
After a lazy morning messing with tunes
Lazy planet day, not too many shakes
Volcano list coming after USGS wakes
After daChump shut the gov down
Who know's what next from that clown
On and on the orange baby whines
Just give me my wall, all will be fine
I can't listen, hate to even look
At the lying, clueless, greedy crook
Can't wait, Mueller hit him with the book
And lock him in a tiny dark nook
Then we can get the tension down
Move into the future with fewer frowns
Work for fewer, better loved kids
Subsidized greed, gotta add lids
Remember the Earth don't care
What we're doing out there
But, there are very hard, fast rules
We can do better, we have the tools
10 billion can't live like this
How many before the death kiss
The population crisis awaits
Unless our bad breeding abates
Plan parenting, plan and do it right
None, one or two GREAT kids, alright
So many problems go right away
If we put that plan into play
Today
On Earth

May Day, May Day!

OMFG!
What a day to be!
Wild and free!
On a golf course, Weeeeeeee!

Quite the day
Like it was May
Play, play, play, play
What I say!

Punk, bully, rich
Donny Jonny daChump
Still Putin's bitch
Suckin' on his rump

After-shocking down island way
Hispaniola always in play
Otherwise pretty quiet day
In store tomorrow, I can't say:)

Wild dog stuck in all day
Back to his girlfriend's to play
Bet he'll be back this way
Come to da door and bark, "HEH"!

Just can't watch daChump boy
Tell me what a great job he's done
Mute the Union, from Putin's toy
Till we shoot him at the sun

I hope you had a spectacular day
Retired, golf, I got to go play
If it's going to feel like May
Better get out on Earth, that day!!

A Warm, Lovely Day & Congrats To Pats

Defense does win championships
Were you a gambler, my free tip
Congrats to the Pats
Six rings, sittin' fat
And, this will be short today
Time to get out for some play
Into the 60's, feeling like spring
Gonna start with that dog walk thing
New Moon, so watch those high tides
Flooding in coastal towns worldwide
5.3 quake off Hispanola
Plate moving rock over
Big brown dog having puppy dreams
Who knows what that rascal schemes
Time to get him out
And, me no doubt
Before another meeting with local board
Babyok, it's more than a small local hoard
But, we're still coming at y'all
Mostly sneaky, lying idiots all
Northam still hanging on, making excuses
daChump lies, blames, threatening power abuses
When only real crisis in USA
Is in the White House, everyday!
Just put him on mute
Won't hear him toot
Your day will be better
Especially in this weather
Today on Earth🌎

Harbinger Of Spring

7.5 on Thursday, 60's by Sunday
Didn't take long to get warm air in play
And, warmer temps are coming still
Looking like a week without much chill
And, lots shakes around the Pacific rim
But of big quakes list is pretty slim
Football and commercials coming our way
Last game of the season, Super Bowl Sunday
Patriots earned their way, Rams given a gift
Worst no call ever, created quite the rift
Saints were robbed, now Brees again
His best year ever and no MVP win
Moon almost new so not in morning sky
But, Venus and Jupiter still standing by
Just a short blog, time for me to fly
Back outside where the temp is high
Enjoy
Today On Earth!!

Interview on mute
More daChump lies, so clueless
Tuesday more lies, mute!

The Shaky Planet Warms, A LIttle

Lots of shaking on planet Earth today
Magnitude 6.1 quake over Sumatra way
And, 5+ quakes have the 'Stans a rockin'
Fiji and Java, plates are still knockin'
And big shakes in Va. governor's house
College pic makes Ralph look a louse
Jump on fast, pile on quick
Once a racist, always a dick?
Better question, has he changed?
We all have pasts, have your ideas rearranged
If they haven't, that's a concern
The hope is we all grow and learn
I bet most shouting for him to resign
Have things in their past that aren't so fine
So, careful making threats, slinging mud
Might slip off your high horse, big ole thud
Must be nice being perfect, I sure don't know
Still trying to learn for my past and grow
I hope everyone is...

Did you catch the pre-dawn crescent moon?
A thin, thin wisp hidden by sunlight soon
And, I saw Venus and Jupiter, too
But, Saturn, today, alluded my view
Now the hazy sun slowly warms the air
Still way too cold to wake hibernating bear
But, the warming trend will expand
Maybe get a golf club in my hand
This Tuesday
Good day to play
First a cold week, then one quite warm
Add them together, divide and get the norm
Norm shows a world warming, steadily, too
Direct result of what you and I do
Burning fossil fuels, we're all to blame
That we won't change, that's the shame
Get out today, go for a wander
How can you help, give it a ponder
Ain't nothing but change a comin'
Icebergs calving, hear Earth a drummin'
And, don't be afraid to pass out some smiles
One smile can spread joy, for miles and miles
Today On Earth:)

Still Cold, Now With Clouds

The polar vortex is slowly breaking down
But, here we still deal with frozen ground
Until tomorrow when the warm up starts
Warming up toes as well as hearts
Could hit 70 by Tuesday next
Might have to see how golf clubs flex
But, need to bundle and take a dog walking
He's done napping and listening to my talking
Be back with more soon...
Will the groundhog swoon?

Still cold and cloudy, nap time?
Southern Mexico 6.6 quake, stopping all crime
Not sure if it stirred a tsunami ashore
But, bet buildings collapsed for sure
Now, certainly no money for Donny's wall
Likely throw another tantrum to stall
Why hasn't it already been built
Two republican years lots of money spilt
And even more kickbacks, tax breaks
On it goes, even more every rich guy rakes
And, locally the rubes deceive us still
Toni and Bob more dreams, more swill
We're coming for you all
Elections fast approaching y'all
Out with the men
In with the women
Well, not republican women packing heat
When everyone's packing it won't be safe in the street
Answer is easy: parent well
Make the next generation small and swell
More sex but fewer kids
All wanted, fed, in cozy beds
With good parenting, no need for police
Good parenting: hate, hunger, war all cease!
Not tricky, Today on Earth.
