Just had a visit from two biblical con men
Thought they's stop in during this season
Sent them away, keep your beliefs to yourself!
Their tale holds up 'bout like the elf on a shelf
Because original celebrations were about winter
Surviving together the long nights, at center
With patriarchal religion's power and greed
It helped with conversions to meet a need
To celebrate, so they had to keep intact
The old party times, to pull off their act
Xmas in place of solstice celebrations
Easter eggs as pagan spring imitation
Men took power to protect ag production
Safeguarding stores lead to war introduction
Women in charge wouldn't go for that
And, thousands of years later, here's where we're at
But, women are rising up and pushing back
It will take time to reverse the male attack
There is nothing but change
Time allows forces to rearrange
Today on Earth, a reminder for all
Early humans mark the day the sun hit stall
Solstice means the sun stands still
And starts tilting back ending winter's chill
That's why we party, get together, the true reason
It's the solstice, marking the advent of the winter season!
