A long fetch of moisture from the Gulf streamed up the eastern seaboard this weekend and serious rain fell in central Virginia. After over 3 months without an inch of rain in a 24 hour period and issues with drought, within a week two events with over an inch; and Saturday and today 4 1/2" of rain in 27 hours. That will wash away drought concerns for the remains of winter. And, there is more to come overnight and into tomorrow before cooler drier air moves it out mid-day Monday. And, more rain coming later in the week. Just wait, there will be change.
Oh and it was toasty, 50 at midnight and warmed all day into the upper 60's. Wild Virginia winter.
The Hershey Dog creek was raging but the South Anna river was as far out of it's banks as I've seen - in 20 years.
The Hopkins cattle could not use their usual paths...the river is over by the trees...in normal times!!
