A Cool Leaf-fall Day

A cloudy, cool Thursday with a light wind (it will get windier) has leaves flying here in the forest. The colors are subsiding, deeper shades of the reds, oranges, browns and yellows that two weeks ago were bright and showy, more gaps where those early changers have flown away letting the low fall sun get through.  Not as bright but still a pretty scene.
The clouds are with a cold front, the trailing edge of a massive Low that has hammered the middle of the country, T-storms in southern plains and snow to the Great Lakes region, but most likely to only bring us some clouds and a slight chance of rain AND a big temperature change for a couple of days. Friday will see the return of the sun but Boreas, god of the north wind, will make that sun feel much less warm. The weekend afternoon temperatures will make the 60's with a shot at 70's again early next week before the next system arrives.
Aftershocks continue to slow here in the central Va. quake zone, a good trend.
